I was so excited for this book having read a previous book in this series, not to mention I’m a sucker for a good fated mates book. This was book 7 in Delta James’s Alaskan Tails series. The book was good, however it seemed a little rushed. The book details show that it’s 108 pages, but it in fact is only 98 pages. The rest of the pages are lists of her other books.

The Plot:
The story had a great plot. Father is murdered. Who done it type of plot. I’m in!

The Spice:
I gave it 3 peppers because yes, it was totally spicy. I didn't give a higher rating because even though the mates were fated, i feel as though there could have been way more angst and push back.

The Characters:
Loved the characters. We have a strong FMC who isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. Then we have the dominant MC who won't take no for an answer once they find out they're fated. The evil character who did the dirty deed. The one we love to hate.

The Problems:
1.  At one point in the story, the main characters are getting ready to have a huge argument, but we don't get to hear it. instead, we get "Their argument escalated, voices rose as they stepped aggressively to one another, the intensity of their emotions surging, But as words ran out, something shifted." WHAT WORDS? It would have been much better to have actually had some context to the argument.

2.  It ended too abruptly. We go through this massive climax and we know there are going to be logistical problems between to two main characters, but instead of seeing them work it out, were cut off. The End. WHAT?? 🤦🏻‍♀️

I'll definitely read more of Delta's books. I like her short stories, but I feel like this one was rushed and it could have been done much better.
