The Green Road by Anne Enright

4.0

I read this in preparation of meeting the author. In this family saga, I felt some parts were crystal clear and others were hazy. Initially told from the point of view of 4 siblings, they dovetail near the end, when their mother has them come back home for one last Christmas. She is selling their childhood home and despite their distance from her, they are conflicted about her decision. Two of the children were very clear to me, but the other two never came to life as defined characters. Despite this flaw and the muddled ending, there was so much in this book that reminded me of my Irish grandparents. I can't wait to meet the author!
