I found this especially interesting under the lens of understanding the attitudes to imperialism in the metropole, which was my specialty at Uni. Plot was good and the murder sensational. Lovely to see a positive description of cannabis?!? LOL. The foreshadowing of Watson's eventual marriage made me happy - I liked that he was a gentleman and also that the romance aspect did not overshadow the main plot.
