This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger

5.0

"Of all that we're asked to give others in this life, the most difficult to offer may be forgiveness." This novel, set during the Great Depression, was as educational as it was enjoyable. Beautiful, evocative descriptions of the landscape and those trying to get by in the American Midwest bring this story to life. Overarching themes of friendship, family, and forgiveness are interwoven with heartbreaking descriptions of betrayal, abuse, and the decimation of the Native American way of life.

If you liked Peter Heller's The River or Where the Crawdads Sing, this is one for you.
