You Think That's Bad by Jim Shepard
2.0

This book was like a well-seasoned steak overcooked and difficult to chew. The collection of short stories were dense and researched, but it was almost overwhelming.

The book presented unique setups you don't see often in literature (ex. avalanche testing, Godzilla history), and I learned plenty of random facts about history and science, so I give it credit in that regard. However, because of the unfamiliar territory, I often got completely lost five pages in. That's probably more on me than the storytelling, but I was hoping for something with a little less substance.

I prefer my steak medium or medium rare.
