A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeleine L'Engle

5.0

When I went to Germany in March, flying for the first time and visiting another country for the first time, I took this book with me. I think I read a portion of the first chapter on the way there, and a portion on the way back. Hey, at least I read a chapter. Then I decided to pick it up and continue about a week ago, after I finished L'Engle's magical nonfiction work, A Circle of Quiet.

5 Adjectives for this 5-Star Book:

1. Long
You'll laugh at me when you read this, because the book is only 300 words, but there are only twelve chapters, so the pacing is a bit tough. It felt like I just. kept. reading and there was still more after each page.

2. Magical-Realist
I love the presence of kything between characters as if it's totally possible. It makes you want to kythe someone you know - just to see if it works.

3. Intricate
You have to really read this book in-depth, there will be no glazing the surface with this book. You must go all-in or you won't understand the complex character and family ties.

4. Odd
Honestly not what I was expecting, but I absolutely loved it.

5. Lovely
As with all other books (I've read) by Madeleine L'Engle, this one is marvellous and interesting and lovely.

Read it.
