Hefty by Jessa Kane
5.0
This is undoubtedly my favorite Jessa Kane story EVER (so far)
It’s sweet, it’s hot, it’s emotional, it’s freaking perfect!
I love the opposites attract aspect. A big man who doesn’t see himself as sexy and cheerleading captain. He’s smart, she has to work hard to be a barely B student and therefore she thinks she’s not someone he’d want. There’s an angst aspect that’s very juicy because at their age they genuinely are convinced they aren’t right for each other and it hurts.
The friends to lovers aspect. She’s his twin sister’s best friend. They’ve always been close and secretly pining for each other, but friends first.
I LOVE the big guy part. He’s a football linebacker and convinced he’s not hot. But she knows better.
Overall, it truly just is the perfect story for me. I’ve read it multiple times since it came out. I laugh and say ‘awww’ and even tear up at one point. Every. Single. Time. It’s really perfectly written for a high school romance. The emotions truly are the slightly over the top emotions of that age and at one point she even admits she’s over reacting, but it just means that much to her.
Seriously, if you’ve never read Jessa Kane start here. It will show you how amazing she is and it will become a favorite of yours. Even if it’s not full of your favorite tropes like it is for me, you can’t miss how wonderful this book is.
