The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune

3.0

This book gets better as you go along, but the beginning was rough for me. Nick is a frustrating character to follow since he doesn’t seem to pick up on ANYTHING. It was frustrating, because literally as soon as he figures things out, he has 100% perfect 2020 hindsight vision. The reader deserved a better protagonist from page one and I know this author can deliver because of The House in the Cerulean Sea.

Best parts were Nick’s banter with his dad and the plot. The reason this book is rated as highly is mostly due to the fact that I wanted to know what was going to happen. I think I’ll stick around for book two since the characters seem to be settling in more.
