The retelling of Little Red Riding Hood but make it sci-fi and give her agency. 

The confidence of an 18 year old. Oh what a time. 

We also love a morally gray character written well. 

Scarlets stubbornness and recklessness is just perfect for an 18 year old. Her fierce loyalty and love for her grand-mere was heartwarming and -wrenching all at the same time. 

I loved the way the first book and this book connect. Even though they focus on different main characters and stories, I think the transition between the povs a were well done. I love the set up for the next two books and I am impressed with the storytelling.
