The premise of Expiration Dates is intriguing — the main character, Daphne, receives messages from the universe on slips of paper that tell her exactly how long she will spend with a romantic partner. Daphne meets Jake and for the first time, the slip of paper for the relationship’s duration is blank.
The magical realism + romance + a few twists + moments of unexpected depth + descriptions of California were fun.
Totally not the point of the story, but I would’ve loved to find out the origin of the messages from the universe and why Daphne was chosen as a recipient.
