The Velveteen Rabbit: Or How Toys Become Real by Margery Williams Bianco

5.0

Oh the Velveteen Rabbit how I adore thee! This was one of my favourite books and still is. It came before Toy Story when you thought your toys came to life and it makes you think about the impact of loving your toys really has. I treated some of my stuffed animals a bit like that poor bunny and after I read this I used to think they would be uncomfortable so I always made sure they were not squashed together and were in comfortable positions in my room or in my bed. A little ashamed to say a very small part of me still does this to the remaining stuffed toys in case they are cursing me on the inside for making them sit with an arm wedged somewhere or thrown upside down undignified.

This book is sad and heartfelt and so so magical. The pictures alone are amazing. It adds something to this adorable story. It is a children's book yes but it is for everyone because I'm sure we all had that one toy we loved into pieces.
