I loved this book as a kid.
Anyway, I was young then.
It's fine, I guess. The illustrations remain lovely. At this point in my life I feel mostly for the Darkling and wish the humans had all gotten themselves eaten for being stupid and awful. Also there's really terrible worldbuilding at pretty much every point and it bothered me deeply.
It gets 2 stars because my younger self will not let me give it 1.
