The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

4.0

ULTIMATE SPOILER!!!

Jeez I read this in like three days. Dan Brown really is the best at making these stories, I don't care about wht the critics say about his books because I am always here for a Robert Langdon ride.

Okay so the ultimate plot twist??? Holy moley?? The way I actually gasped irl. But then earlier, especially the part where Mal'akh describes his 'encounter' with Zachary and how he had money and got out that way, I kept wondering how. Like, I guess this part's kind of weak but Dan Brown doesn't explain how Mal'akh gains access to Zachary's money. It kind of bothered me then, and I actually wondered, for a hot, hot, short second - how if Zachary was Mal'akh? But then Dan's pretty good at making you not overthink it because so much is going on.

Had a whale of a time with this book though, but I admit, I found some of the other characters annoying. Katherine, because she's seriously naive, for a scientist. Langdon, because he's constantly saying things are myths, legends, and not possible when he's literally gone through the most insane experiences in the previous books. Like, how much of a skeptic can you keep being after all that? Also, the CIA. Jeez, you guys stormtroopers or what? The train thing was such a braindead moment - they seriously never considered that Katherine and Robert would take another train? Aren't y'all supposed to look at every possibility? Even Sato - you're the most feared in the OS and yet she fell for Mal'akh's tricks? Literally the entire CIA made to kneel by one man. Annoying.
