Love From A to Z by S.K. Ali

5.0

UPDATE 7/17: I haven't stopped thinking about how I love this book so much for a month... I had to bump to a five-star. It's what she deserves!!!

This book was everything I wanted it to be and I wish I had read it sooner!

Zayneb reminds me so so SO much of myself as a teen (and still now honestly) and I so deeply felt her anger, her frustrations, and her desire to speak out against injustice/ignorance/bigotry even if she faced backlash for it. How many people have been told to be quiet, be less combative, told to just “take it” when facing a person like Zayneb’s teacher Fencer?

I loved that while, yes, this was a love story, it was also a story that focused on so many important topics and had great family dynamics. My heart hurt so much for Adam when he struggled with the anniversary of his mother’s passing and with how to tell his father he had been diagnosed with MS, all while trying to be the best older brother he could be to Hanna.

The love story itself was so sweet, and it has reignited my fantasy of having a meet-cute with a stranger on an airplane/at an airport. Phwew.

Also, I love Uncle Zahid.
