The Initiate by Veronica Roth

4.0

After being consistently disappointed by this series, I was surprised by how much I liked this installment--good things come to those who wait? There were once again plot issues (sort of a signature of the Divergent series by this point), but the insight in and development of Four here was quite good, and this captured a bit of the Dauntless charm that was in the first book which had been quickly overrun by Dauntless stupidity that dominated later books. Four is overall a more empathetic individual than Tris, and so his thoughts on other factions were also more enlightening and less juvenile.
