I was more than 3/4 through and just couldn’t stand Sisi anymore. I wish it had been more clear that this was Book 2 in the 2-part series. I kept wondering why the author skipped the whole first part of her life as the empress. 😆 That’s probably on me, but perhaps if I had read #1 I would have had more empathy for her. Starting in book 2, her dissatisfaction with her life in court and her continued infidelity just feels… selfish and sort of petty. Like—this is what you signed up for! I just couldn’t devote and more summer hours to her.
