One Pucked Up Pack

This is a hard book to characterize for me. I was enjoying it up to a little over half way and then it got angsty for the relationship and I wasn’t vibing with that. I haven’t read a fated mates that hit so hard with a contemporary feeling will-they-won’t-they. And that just isn’t what I look for in omegaverse. I did greatly enjoy the author’s steamy scenes, I thought they mostly worked well and provided a higher level spice. However, by the end of the book this felt entirely too long for the lack of strong character development and sheer amount of steamy scenes. I also felt that the story arc of the FMC, Charlotte, delved into trauma pørn by the end of the book. There is a completely unnecessary scene in the very end of the book where she is put in harms way (with for potential sexual assault). I just couldn’t understand why that was even on the author’s radar for acceptable storylines. As much as i enjoyed the characters together, I didn’t think there was a strong attempt to fully draw their characters, which was disappointing with a polyamorous relationship. The whole point is navigating more personalities and how they all work within a romantic relationship. I am always disappointed to see a poly romance that does not include romance among the men (especially when there are so many of them to the one woman). The men are all best friends and would totally never be sexually into each other. I’ve just read some amazing why choose Omegaverse like Kathryn Moon’s Sweetverse and Eliana Lee’s Bond dissolution series—and this one doesn’t hold up. Despite my qualms, I did get pulled into the idea of the second book with Charlotte’s best friend who is a female Alpha. Not the first time I’m unsure of an author, but continue with a series 🫡
