Boy Meets Maria by PEYO

challenging dark

1.0

Honestly, I feel like I've been lied to with the way this book is marketed. I'm nonbinary. I was told this was a story about a teen boy meeting another teen, someone who didn't consider themself a boy or a girl. Wrong. 100% wrong.
And nothing prepared me for the multiple scenes of sexual assault (I'm counting the two times where Arima assaulted Taiga. Because that's what happened, and the book doesn't deal with it at all). This book is heavy, be REALLY careful about it.
They both need therapy. And Taiga needs to talk to his dad. Arima's trauma makes him abusive. There's SO much that isn't adressed.
