Mind that if you read the book back to back, you shouldn’t since George RR Martin makes sure to catch you up on what happened to the character on the last book. Theme of this book old Maesters are fools. What’s obvious that even so there’s upsetting things in these books it’s really obvious that it is the characters that do them and say, this is clearly a series of people being assholes. Honestly reading about the stories of what made the castles what they are now is one of my favorite things, I find the religion and the legends so interesting.
