Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

3.0

This book is absolutely worth it, but —
Honestly, the first half left me confused and disoriented. The setting felt fuzzy, and the characters altogether two dimensional. I could never quite envision what was going on which I find very important in a fantasy series.
The second half is amazing. I finally got that sense of place out of the writing, the characters felt more complete with the development of their backstories and relationships, and the final scene was exhilarating. Would recommend!
