Animal, Vegetable, Junk: A History of Food, from Sustainable to Suicidal by Mark Bittman

challenging informative inspiring fast-paced

5.0

This is the food book I have been waiting for. Everyone should read this one. Bittman does a deep dive into the history of food production and highlights the ugly facts of what’s gotten us to where we are today. I read several reviews that criticise Bittman for being too political, but food is intensely political. We need more writing like this that doesn’t shy away from calling the system out and proposing radical solutions.
