It's unfortunate that this book isn't more well remembered than it is. It was apparently a 70's horror bestseller and a movie was made based on it, but it seems to have somewhat disappeared.
It was a very good story. Creepy twins in an idyllic New England town. Always a bad thing. It can be seen as either a supernatural horror story, or as a psychological thriller, depending on what you think is going on with the main character.
It has a very interesting narrative style- a little difficult for me to read at times and I did have to backtrack once or twice. The language is very well written. There were times in the book that were rather slow, points at which I was bored reading it. Despite that I gave it five stars, because after finishing it I thought it was just fantastically disturbing, and pretty much wanted to start all over again.
