Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry
5.0

Published on: Ashes Books & Bobs.

I decided to kick off my Indie reading binge with Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry. This book has been sitting on my TBR for ages and it was time to finally read it. I knew I would love this story because Brittainy’s books never fail to hit me in the heart. Her writing is deep, emotional, and truly everything I look for in the books I read. I picked this up last night and didn’t put it down until 1 a.m. to finally sleep. Last night, Brittainy reminded me why I love reading. When I fall in book slumps, novels like this are what I’m seeking and the reason I will never stop being a reader.

Loving Mr. Daniels brought back the early Indie feels I adore and gripped me from beginning to end, exactly as I expected it to. Forbidden romances are one of my very favorite things to read because I’ve experienced my own forbidden love and am happily married to him today. This book brought back all the turbulent feelings of that time in my life and made fiction feel real. I couldn’t stop tearing through the pages to find out what would happen next, completely caught up in the emotion of the characters’ lives.

“Maybe because when hearts are set on fire, no complications can extinguish the flame.”

Before the halfway point in the story, I already had tears streaming down my face. I was overjoyed in finally finding a book to evoke emotion after what felt like months reading enjoyable books, but nothing that hit me in the deepest parts of my heart.

My favorite thing about Loving Mr. Daniels was the author’s ability in capturing the essence of being a teenager. She described the teen years in a way that took me back and made me realize exactly what I had lost by growing up. Our teenage years have a kind of magic about them that comes when we are caught between childhood and adulthood. There’s still a hopefulness that hasn’t been quashed by the cynical adult years. Everything is new and exciting, but on the flipside, heartbreaks feel worse than death.

This story was so much more than a student/teacher romance. It was about a connection between two struggling people finding solace in one another. This story featured a variety of relationships, death, suspense, heartbreak and more. I’m still struggling to figure out how this is one of Brittainy C. Cherry’s earliest works! Her masterful storytelling and incredible characters (not limited to the main characters) blows my mind. This book simply proves Brittainy is meant to be an author.

I’m disappointed it took me so long to read a book that has instantly become a favorite. I could actually flip back to the first page and start reading all over again and possibly love the story even more the second time. However, this book, as books tend to do, came to me at the perfect time. I needed to feel again and be reminded of the reason I love being a reader. I’m a fan of Brittainy C. Cherry for life!
