The Vampyre by John Polidori

2.0

Knowing this was written for the same competition that gave us the masterpiece Frankenstein makes this more than a little underwhelming. I know this was basically the first vampire story, or at least the one that defined the genre in terms of aligning the monstrous with the romantic. I should be able to appreciate it for that, but sometimes a short story conveys too little. This felt too big of a story for its less than 100 pages.
