really really strong book discussing a horrible hidden truth in US history. the horror elements that the author weaves into the story are fantastic; it drew me in and keep me turning the pages. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and thoroughly enjoyed my reading experience.
the pitfall of this book is its length. there were often moments that felt drawn out. I was especially disappointed to see that despite the length, certain character plot lines were never concluded, especially ms hamilton’s.
(as a side note: this book also reminded me a lot of nickel boys. having seen the movie only recently it was difficult for me to separate the two. however, this is a personal problem, as the stories are very different despite both taking place in a school for boys.)
