This collection in no way stands on its own, to the extent any of it would even make sense to someone who hasn't read the rest of the Queen's Thief series, it would spoil literally every book in the series. Just read The Thief, please, everyone. Right now.
But every little story and flash fiction scene in the book is perfect and I need to reread them all like, three more times in order to notice every tiny revealing detail. The thing about having read these books as they came out, starting with a copy of The Thief I picked out from a Scholastic Book Club flyer when I was in 7th grade, is I missed a bunch of the stories that were previously published in later paperback editions, so it's great to be able to read them all collected here.
