A simple thought said aloud can have many different reactions. Depending on the situation of course...

“I hate you. I never want to see you again.”

If you heard this on a playground as a child, you might stick out your tongue. You might make the same comment or you might cry. As an adult, your reactions might be the same as a child.

But in this book, these words haunt. They haunt characters, readers, and terrible memories. They have an epic amount of hurt and are flung drenched in pain. They make you want to curl in a ball and cry. They make you want to hug them away.

K. Bromberg pulled no punches with this book. She makes sure you feel the trapped itchy need to run. She makes you feel the frustration of a hero complex that burns with the need to help but no one will let you help them. Most of all the lost feeling that swirls inside a lost character fighting demons they aren't sure are real.

As if crying through the book wasn't enough, K. Bromberg drops a nuke on your heart in her authors note. To all the Olives out there, I hope you find your happily ever after.

I just re-read my review and realized it's a total downer. Don't get me wrong this book is still hot. With smokin' chemistry, a hot uniform, and an insatiable urge to argue, it has everything you need to enjoy the fireworks. (Including the fireman if things get out of hand!)
