the plot is good, the fantasy of it all is fun

What is keeping me going with this series is the plot and fantasy elements. I want to keep learning more about the Crows. The magic system and history of them is super interesting. Hope we learn more about the other kingdoms too in further books.

Lore is an interesting character. There’s definitely a lot we still don’t know and I have a feeling there are people we are supposed to trust that we shouldn’t. I can’t wait to learn more about him and his people though!

Dante is… ugh MAJOR EYE ROLL the whole book. How Fallon was blind to him is beyond me. I could tell right away he was just a dirtbag. But I get it, first loves die hard.

That leads me to Fallon. I almost DNF’d this book multiple times because of her. One thing I do not personally like is when authors do the whole accidentally think out loud thing. Fallon does this a lot. Just have it part of the dialogue for crying out loud. Instead it just makes for awkward unnecessary moments. Also she’s supposed to be 22 but i felt like i was reading more like a teenager in this entire book. The way she was such a lovesick puppy over Dante got old SO fast. Even when she grew a backbone and he showed his true colors she maintain loyalty to this dude.. like what? Her naivety was off the charts. And this girl has zero critical thinking skills. The amount of times I called her an idiot is too many. So many things were laid out for her.. dots just ready to be connected.. and she’s putting square pegs in round holes. I PRAY that she grows a real backbone in book 2, that she gains some common sense and critically thinks, and stops blindly giving her loyalty to that douche canoe Dante.
