Foolish Hearts
by Emma Mills
4.5 "Nobody will be find your body" STARS
This book is an utter delight and represents everything I love about contemporary YA. It is a refreshing change to the over-the-top drama/antics that seems to plague YA these days.
Claudia is adorable heroine and her struggles are nothing unusual, but there genuine. I just wanted to hug her as she struggles to navigate the changes in her life. The secondary cast and storylines are excellent. Iris completely steals the show, and I would read a book about her in a second. I adore snarky characters and she's one of the best I've read in a while. Her dry humor and slow moving friendship with Claudia was hands down my favorite moments of the books.
"I'm going to shoot him..."
"Iris! You can't just shoot players indiscriminately."
"He dumped you; he deserves to die."
There is nothing remotely sad about the ending, but I found myself crying in the closing chapters. It was a bittersweet goodbye to cast of lovable and unforgettable characters. I really hope this book releases on audio on some point; I love to listen to it as a reread.
If you are a fan of old school YA, I highly recommend Foolish Hearts. This the second book I've read from Mills and cannot wait to read more. A huge shout out to Cynalicious and Hollis for pushing this one on me.
