Thief's Magic by Trudi Canavan

3.0

Having previously enjoyed the two Black Magician series and in particular the Age of the Five series, I came to this with high hopes.

Sadly, I feel a little let down. The splitting of the book into two lead characters is awkward as their paths (and worlds) never cross during this part of the journey. Whilst I found Tyen's story interesting, even intriguing with his archaeological findings, I just couldn't come to terms with Rielle's tale at all.

I presume their paths will eventually cross later in the series and that this will raise the interest on my part. I'll carry on for at least one more book but can't see me completing the story if Rielle's part remains so dull.

I think Tyen gets a sold four stars but Rielle a lowly two at this point.
