ARC review. Maggie is in a tailspin after one night with a grumpy goalie—who then proceeded to ghost her. Obviously, she hates him. Meanwhile, after months of obsession and a push from his friends, Vladi tries to mend fences while he and Maggie attend a destination wedding. How hard could it be to win back the heart of Maggie f—-ing James?

Maggie is goals. She’s unapologetic, funny, blunt, and confident. Even when the world deals her a crappy hand, she holds her head high and keeps on moving. She’s my spirit animal. And Vladi, goodness. He messed up and he knows it. He gets some sense knocked into him, and despite his fears, he tries to push through to win back the girl of his dreams. He’s so grumpy and closed off, but for her he’s willing to try. Their love is chaotic and messy, giving you all the tension while the broody Russian sorts himself out. And when he drops the ball, Maggie loves herself enough to hold him accountable. What really sells this into top-tier territory for me is Vladi’s self-awareness and willingness to get better. It’s a great read with all the tropical trappings of a happy ever after (tan lines not included).
