Visions
(Cainsville #2)
by Kelley Armstrong

This book really doubles down on the smexy times and also into the fey nature of Cainsville.

No longer are we supposed to be content with hunting gargoyles along with Olivia in her adopted town...now we've got full blow acceptance by Olivia that she can read omens, that there is something slightly more-than-human about Cainsville elders, and that her visions can lead her to finding more about a missing, probably dead woman mysteriously connected to Cainsville as well as lead her to night time romps in the forest where...ah...some steamy and inexplicable things happen inside faerie rings.

I love romance, so for me, Olivia hooking up with motorcyle bad boy Ricky Gallagher was awesome. Armstrong definitely has a way with two people on a motorcyle and their libidos. Trust me, you'll need a fan when you get to the part in the forest where Olivia and Ricky almost see the wild hunt. Yikes.

And how cool is it to have (and I hope this isn't a spoiler because I think its obvious to anyone who has the slightest familiarity with Welsh/Irish/British folk tales) the Hunt associated with a motorcyle gang...kind of perfect if you ask me.

Still, in this book, the other side of the fun coin is Olivia gradually chipping away at ice king Gabriel Walsh's defenses. I'm a sucker for a Darcy/Elizabeth Bennett kind of dynamic and that's definitely what's going on here.

While this book ups the ante with revelations about Cainsville's ties to the fey, and Olivia's romance, it only provides tantalizing glimpses of a bigger evil that is after Olivia as well as a choice she's going to have to make.

Olivia goes to work for Gabriel (who is representing her mother still in prison) and also investigates the disappearance of a girl. We get some interesting leg work, some dangerous interference by olivia's well-connected ex, James, and a murderer who keeps leaving body parts where Olivia can find them. Very creepy.

Still enjoying this series immensely.
