The plot was pretty good, but there were a lot of bad takes and rambling discussions of society and all the ways it’s decaying, which is all the fault of women. Additionally TRIGGER WARNING- rape:
There was an horrific description of rape stating that rape isn’t really rape, “[just women being forced to have sex when they don’t want to]” that lasted for a full page and then doubling down some chapters later by saying rape doesn’t really happen, women just lie when they get pregnant. Additionally, all of this is mothers fault because they’re working outside the home and not properly taking care of their daughters.
It seemed like she was trying to fit in with the more salacious crime books of the 70s and it really ended up with disturbing sentences and paragraphs sprinkled into a good mystery.
