Axiom's End
by Lindsay Ellis
Axiom's End is a nuanced narrative about what first contact with another civilization could look like - with all the intricacies of existential dilemma, the growing network of online conspirators, and political machinations. I really enjoyed when the book questioned whether one could truly know a being from another civilization or whether we can only afford to know one another through the limitations of our own understanding. With the concern around QAnon and other conspiracies that have spiked online recently, I feel that the burgeoning civil unrest brought forth by TheBrokenSeal.org (try checking out that URL when you have a chance) really echoes the status of the political sphere we have currently. The book ends on a hanging note, one that really questions how a relationship between the two leads can continue. I'm excited to read more about the political intrigue that the sequel will bring to this universe.
