A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire by Jennifer L. Armentrout
5.0
How is this book so good?
It has been a few days since I finished A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire and I am still not over it.
Picking up right where we left off in book one, Armentrout continues to demonstrate her mastery of world-building and character development.
It is easy to lose yourself in this book as you have some of the pieces filled in from book one. I loved getting more insight into the history of Atlantians, their G-ds, customs, and how the Ascended/ vampry play in. Plus the actual scenery that is described is done in the best kind of detail. I really felt that I was there.
But the best part was the character development. Armentrout is great at adding complexity to characters that doesn't feel forced and compliments what we already know about them. I enjoyed Casteel's and Poppy's relationships - their banter felt fresh. And I love that it was changed between book one and book two. Plus the secondary characters are given a level of depth that isn't always achieved in books. It truly adds to the whole story.
And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the ending!! It has me counting down the days until book 3. I have so many questions and theories and I think that is just a testament to how good this book was.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series.
