This book has a brooding quality about it that I really enjoyed, and I cried more than once throughout. I did find that it overstayed its welcome in some portions, especially towards the beginning, and it occasionally felt like Miri's chapters were getting in the way of Leah's, particularly when the craft first sinks. Leah's chapters felt so short by comparison which was initially frustrating, though it became less of an issue further in.
Overall, this is a very Gothic-feeling horror, and relies a lot on the love story at its core, so if you're more of a blood-and-gore horror fanatic I imagine this would feel underwhelming. As it was, I found it had a good balance between being a horror and romance/grieving.
