I didn’t think I was going to enjoy this at first and thought I’d ending up DNFing but I stuck with it and did end up enjoying it.

I love all the references and nostalgia and it was funny as well  as gross at times.
I had a feeling Hellstock would end up like Woodstock 99 before Woodstock was mentioned but I didn’t realise how close it would follow some of the real events, down to the poor planning, lax security, fires and SA.

It was a fun story overall but I think you’d need to get the references to fully enjoy it but I’m a casual metal enjoyer so maybe you don’t have to be a full on metalhead. Maybe don’t tell Mr Hendrix a Nu Metal fan (as a chick too) as Nu Metal does get a bit of a roasting. Also please tell me Rob Anthony is a reference to Robert Plant? Or am I thinking too much? It’s a bit of a big coincidence otherwise.

The audiobook is great. Carol Monda does a fab job with the characters and their personalities shone through in her performance.
