The plot concept is so cool, especially having gone into this blind without reading the summary. I really enjoyed the characters and diversity. The world building is fascinating and expansive. Overall I had a good time reading this book.

However while I am glad I read this one, I'm not sure I'll be picking up the next in the series. For me this book felt a little underdeveloped and I wish it were longer so the author could've really dived deeper into the story and the characters.

For one thing, there's a lot of tell not show and only surface level descriptors. Focus' backstory is also interesting as hell but I wish we got more of a chance to see the nuanced effects it would have on her psyche, to understand what she went through beyond
"and then i was big sad and lonely but now I'm all better because love!" Plus, her own backstory is such an epic and tragic story, I had high hopes for something equally as epic for the climax of this book and sadly didn't get that. the most interesting part was the time jump, and after that the plot fizzled for me
