Story Thieves by James Riley

5.0

This book was so much fun! Just the right combination of snarky humor and breath-taking adventure to keep readers enthralled. This very meta story is a book within a book within a book. Bethany is half-fictional -- her father is a fictional character who disappeared inside a book after her fourth birthday. From him, Bethany inherited the ability to jump into books and live through the story. She has been doing so against her mother's wishes, looking for her father ever since. When Owen catches her emerging from a book, he begs her to take him inside his favorite series. Once there though, he can't stop himself from interfering with the story. This starts out a chain reaction that threatens everything in both the fictional and real worlds. Highly recommended to grades 3-6. It would also make a really fun read aloud.
