“If I have to deal with one more person today, I’ll fucking kill myself.”
This was aggressively good. The amount of pure terror I felt throughout this book is palpable. Paul and Julian are some of the most interesting characters I've read so far in the last two years. It made me feel conflicted yet hopeful, while crushing my idealic notions constantly, like a dear friend constantly alternating between hugging you tenderly and stabbing you with a rusted knife.
"All I want to do is make you happy, and you’re the unhappiest person I’ve ever met.”
I have so many questions, and am so curious for others interpretations of their relationship, what it meant and the ending, that it makes this book instant reread-worthy. For how can you write such a compelling relationship this toxic? It's so enticing and griping that I found myself liking each and every important character, and horrifically finding solace and understanding in their actions, thoughts, and motivations.
I love you. I love you. I love you[...]Tell me you still love me.
