Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

5.0

Anna and the french kiss is a contemporary romantic novel written by Stephanie Perkins. It was published in 2010 and It has been reviewed as the perfect romantic novel. It has been also selected in the NPR’s best YA books of the year. It is a quick light read that absorbs you, I read It just in 3 days.
The book is about a girl that is sent abroad for her senior year. She is sent by her father, who is a famous author, to the School of America in Paris. At first she doesn’t want to go to Paris, mainly because her best friend, Bridge, is back in Atlanta and she also has some kind of relationship with the boy she has been working with at the movies, Thorp; but also because she don’t even know how to speak in French. The first day she meets Meredith whose room is next door to Anna’s, so she starts being friends with her and her group, Josh, Rashimi and Etienne St. Clair. This last one starts to be a really special friend for Anna but he has a girlfriend studying in Paris and their friend Meredith has something for him.
Anna and the French kiss is a very beautiful story and a very emotional read, sometimes hilarious, sometimes touching. Even It is not the most elaborated plot you find yourself unable to put it down as you want to know what is happening next. However, I would like to know the rest of the character a little bit more, I mean as It is told from Anna’s perspective I felt like I was missing something, especially about Meredith, Josh, Rashimi, Bridge, etc.. And I found the end like the kind of unfinished, like I was expecting something else to happen in the end.
Overall, Anna and the French kiss is a lovely read, that everyone that like love stories should read because It won’t take much time and you will finish It with a smile in your face.
