See You in September (The Refuge Series Book 1)
By Debbie Zello
Rated 4 stars

I have enjoyed Debbie Zellos books in the past. I weirdly read the second and third book in this series before reading this one. I think her writing gets better the more she writes. While this is a good book it’s not one of my favorites from her. This has many cute moments between Cheri and Gareth but there is also an element of danger and a difficult subject is touched upon. I enjoyed Gareth when they first meet. He seemed a little pushy but he turns out super great. Cheri was kind of melancholy but she perked up when Gareth kept coming around.

After September Gareth leaves to go back to California. One thing I don’t understand is the communication or lack of. They both have feelings for each other but there is no communication between them. Not texting, calling or emailing. Just weird. I just didn’t understand that. During this time Cheri is having trouble. With her business and personal life. Not sure if she can overcome all of these and still be waiting for September when Gareth comes back.

The other characters added some interest to the book. Garett’s Personal Assistant, Naomi, gives him a run for his money. She takes none of his sass but gives it right back. Tucker, Garett’s best friend, also puts some snark in the book.
