Under the Lake by Stuart Woods

4.0

I haven't read a mystery in a long time and this was an amazing one to come back to. I have never read any of Stuart Woods books before but not I can't wait to read more! It gives you enough to feel like you know how it will end, but there is another could be ending that gets you thinking again. This and the good pace and story telling though the two reporter characters pushing for information either by digging though things or asking the right question. I feel like most of mystery story with reporters are a over done trope but he does this well with two reporters. The ending was also a amazing ending.
The reason I gave this four stars and not five because there are a few little things that I am not crazy about. The main thing is that there is sex in the book. At the start it feel like it was becoming a repetitive love story that takes away from what could be a good story. There is a lot in the first half of the story then slowly comes to an end. There is also more detail then I feel like was needed. There is a purpose to talking about it but I wanted to see what was going on with the lake more. Then this is a small town with talk of incest. Just like the sex it does have a point even if it feels really pained out at the start.
This is a must read for a mystery, murder, ghost theme story lover. I can't wait to reread this and get my friends and family to read it to talk more about it.
