Wow. The first half of the book comes off a wee underwhelming but is so IMPORTANT because when you get to the turning point of the middle of the book HOT DAMN does this book take off and hit the ground running.
I would classify this book as Mildred Pierce mixed with Elements of the Smiley face Killer daughter’s true crime story sprinkled with someHaunted house vibes.
It’s honestly amazing and a true literary masterpiece. Great for exploring themes of coming of age, Elektra complex, maternal grief, repressed sexuality, family ties and bonds.
