Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
5.0
This was so, so good. I actually shed real tears, which never happens for me. Usually it’s just dry sobs or a stricken gasp. So, I immediately started the next book in the series, and am already loving that one too.
Anne is such a great protagonist. And I loved Matthew and Marilla with my whole heart.
My favorite moment was when Matthew said, ”My girl. My Anne girl. That I’m proud of.”
(Yeah, that’s the one that made me cry.^^)
Gilbert Blythe was always such an interesting character to me. And I’m so excited to get to know him better as the books go onward.
Diana was a sweet friend and I enjoyed her immensely.
I hated Josie Pye with my whole being. I’m sorry.
And Mrs. Allen was such a sweet role model for Anne. I loved her influence.
Anne’s spunk and imagination were what really made this book, though. If you haven’t read it, and you enjoy a fun, quirky main character, then you really, really should.
(Also, as far as Audiobooks go, I HIGHLY recommend the Audible Original Audio narrated by Mary Sarah. One of the best Audiobooks I’ve ever read, and my mother, who read it with me, agrees.)
