Time Was Soft There: A Paris Sojourn at Shakespeare & Co. by Jeremy Mercer

4.0

To be honest, I rarely read memoirs or autobios of any kind, mainly because I don't subscribe to the idea that truth is stranger than fiction. However, Mercer's portrayal of Shakespeare & Co. And the life he lived there is both well written and fascinating. This is maybe the first nonfiction book I've read that has swept me up the way fiction does. Charmingly bohemian, nostalgic, and romanticized in a way usually reserved for poetry. A great fall read.
