3.5 stars. Alex Michaelides’ newest is a blend of Knives Out: Glass Onion and If We Were Villains, and its length perfectly matches the story. Michaelides has a particular niche of unreliable narrator, and while he pulls it off very well, I’ve come to expect the unexpected with him.
The audiobook’s narrator Alex Jennings could not have been a more perfect pick for this. His voice matches the tone you’d read the book in, and brings a lot of life into it.
While this doesn’t feel like anything strikingly new or refreshing (it definitely gives recycled Silent Patient and The Maidens), it’s a fun murder mystery with an interesting narrator and a great audiobook version.
