Olalla by Robert Louis Stevenson

4.0

I've always had a soft spot for Olalla.

This is not a review, but I'm surprised to see so many people approaching it as a love story. Perhaps my memory is failing me but I'm very sure this wasn't meant to be read like that.

Olalla has an unnatural influence over the main character, as she's an unnatural being herself. Even the brother has some of that influence over the main character too, but less heavy for the lack of physical attraction. As I've said, it's been a while since I read it, but I had the impression that it had something to do with guilt if nothing else.
