The Underwater Welder by Jeff Lemire

5.0

I've been a fan of Lemire for awhile. From his self-drawn shorter tales like the Essex Country stories, through his longer self-drawn Vertigo work (Trillium being one of the best comics I've read in recent years), to his superhero stuff (which plays with horror or kung fu movies or noir). and his new ongoing series with Dustin Nguyen on art Descender.

This is up there with my favorite things he's written though. Once again he's able to use a fantastical/horror plot device to explore very real emotions and tell a story about grieving, letting go and reconnecting.
