Little Girl Lost by Cheryl Bradshaw

5.0

This is the first book in a new spin off series from the Sloane Monroe mysteries. (Sloane is not involved in this book whatsoever, but her good friend Giovanni is, though he is a minor character.) The Protagonist had also had a very minute role in the Sloane books, with her connection to Giovanni, so if you've read those books, you may remember her... if not, no worries. The mystery hits too close to home for the detective. Her brother in law was murdered in his backyard and his daughter witnessed it. Detective Germaine (the Protagonist) gets called back home after being away for several years due to personal/emotional reasons. She is a little reluctant to return, but knows she has to do what she can to bring justice, and to find her missing niece. There are very few leads, and she has her work cut out for her, but will her temper hinder her investigation or threaten her role? The story has several facets to it as more information comes to light. There is some thriller to it. There is a sliver of romance (no sexual content.) It's a well plotted story that has a couple surprises/twists. The characters are well developed, as we get to know them. Some you'll like more than others. It reads smoothly and easily, and fairly quickly.

*I received an ARC of this book.
